Moldova marks National Day for creation of green spaces

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/- Several public organizations and economic agents participated today in the National Day for the creation of green spaces -A tree for our dedication. For the event, Moldsilva Agency has prepared over 60 species of tree and shrub seedlings.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MADRM), the institution that organized the campaign, planted trees on the banks of the Răut River, in the Orhei district. “This year, during this campaign, we will also pay attention to the restoration works of the forest strips on the banks of the rivers. All the works carried out today are useful, being a contribution to a green planet, with protected environment”, minister Georgeta Mincu said.

According to MADRM, the State Chancellery today planted oak in Văsieni, Ialoveni; other ministries contributed to the national campaign for greening in forests in Calarasi, Telenesti, Leova and others.

"In order to ensure an efficient conduct of the event, the Government has approved an Action Plan on the creation of green spaces. This autumn, the creation of forestry crops in the national forest fund is expected on an area of approximately 530 hectares. At the same time, works to help natural regeneration in the forest fund on an area of over 500 hectares will be carried out. Also, it is planned to carry out the works to complete the forest crops, created in previous years, on an area of over 2500 ha ”, Mincu said.

The greening campaign will be conducted by late November.

The National Day for the creation of green spaces was established by presidential decree in 1995 and is held on the last Saturday of October.
