Chisinau, 28 October /MOLDPRES/- The management of the General Police Inspectorate has started an internal investigation and suspended two employees of the Buiucani Inspectorate after last week two young people were beaten in the Cathedral square by a group of drunk people.

Acting head of IGP Gheorghe Balan said that this morning a meeting was convened at the management level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and IGP. Thus, following the meeting, the deputy head of IP Buiucani and the head of the criminal investigation department within the same institution were suspended from office until the end of the investigation.

He added that the Cathedral park is permanently patrolled by carabineers, which made it possible to catch the six aggressors immediately. “Three of them are minors, they were detained and are being investigated for hooliganism,” Balan said.

On 24 October two young people who were riding bicycles through the Cathedral Park in the center of the capital were attacked and beaten by a group of six young people in a drunken state. Following the incident, the two cyclists got into serious condition at the hospital, and the suspects were detained on hot traces, but were allowed to go home and were investigated for hooliganism.
