Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/- The parliament saved about 20 million lei in 2019. It is expected to purchase four new machines and IT technology from the savings. Parliament Secretary General Adrian Albu made the statement today. He added that this year the legislative will return to the state budget 16 million lei.
In the last period, the secretariat has optimized the legislative expenses, thus saving over 20 million lei. “The savings have been made to purchase software, fuel and travel. We have saved because we understand what a deplorable condition the budget is,” he said.
He noted that the secretariat will save this year the heating of the parliament's garage for which over 1 million lei was paid annually.
The Secretary General of Parliament noted that from the savings the institution intends to purchase four new cars and IT technology.
He said that at present, there are 57 transport units in the Parliament's garage, of which only 40 are used to serve the MPs, the secretariat and official delegations. Of these, only 10 have an operating period of less than seven years.
Investments are also needed in terms of equipping the institution with computers. Of the 610 computers, 252 units are in operation for more than 7 years.
For 2019, 169,769.8 thousand lei had been provided for parliamentary costs from state budget.
