Ninety six per cent of lifts from Moldovan capital's dwellings fund have expired operating period

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ – Almost 96 per cent of the lifts in the blocks – of – flats in Chisinau municipality have the operating deadline exceeded, it consisting 25 years. This info was presented on Monday, 28 October, at the weekly meeting of the services of the City Hall of Chisinau, by the head of company Liftservice, Ion Stanciu.
According to quoted source, the outdated lifts, which fail more often, create discomfort to tenants. Additionally, the maintenance of lifts with exceeded operating time requires more financial expenses, while spare parts being purchased from abroad.
The head of Liftservice said that, this year, the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) did not allocate money for changing the lifts in the housing fund. "In previous years, the sum of around MDL 05 mln was allocated and there were repaired 10 – 12 lifts out of it," said Ion Stanciu. But he did not mention how much money it is needed to change all the lifts that have been exceeded.
Another issue pointed out by the head of company is the tariffs for servicing the lifts, which were approved in 2009 and which no longer cover the expenses. "During this time, the minimum wage in the real sector of economy has increased thrice, basically. In addition, the prices for lubricants, electricity and heat have increased. Under these terms, it is difficult for us to cover the expenses”, specified Stanciu.
The Liftservice company manages an amount of 2,592 lifts.
