Moldovan MP says farmers hit by irrigation with Bic river water must receive compensations

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ - Lawmaker Alexandr Oleinic considers that the state must provide compensations to the farmers from the eastern Anenii Noi district hit by the irrigation of their lands with water from the Bic river.    

According to the MP, if the competent authorities have not carried out actions of checking the quality of water in the Bic river and of warning the farmers and residents who use the waters of this river, the government is obliged to provide them with compensations for the losses recorded.  

Alexandr Oleinic noted that the story with vegetables from the Anenii Noi district once against highlighted a major problem faced by farmers in Moldova – lands’ irrigation.  

The National Food Safety Agency has recently informed that a too large content of lead had been found in more batches of vegetables cultivated nearby the bed of the Bic river. In these conditions, the vegetables were to be destroyed and farmers complained of having borne losses.
