Moldovan president has meeting with leader of Transnistrian region

Chisinau, 29 October /MOLDPRES/ – President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, has met again with the leader of the Transnistrian region, Vadim Krasnoselski, at the Holercani residence, on Tuesday, 29 October, in which they continued discussing the existing issues on agenda and they have outlined some perspective themes.
According to the presidency’s press service, the parties have noted that the situation that arose in the process of solving the Transnistrian issue requires both parties to maintain a permanent dialogue and elaborate more carefully the issues on agenda.
During the meeting, the participants have discussed details of the round of negotiations in format 5+2, which took place in Bratislava, as well as issues regarding the implementation of the arrangements known as Berlin+. Similarly, Igor Dodon and Vadim Krasnoselski have exchanged views on the activities undertaken to implement the agreed agreements.
The interlocutors have also discussed other issues of economic and social nature, which concern the interests of inhabitants and economic agents on both banks of the Dniester river, including the extension of regime of free movement of citizens, goods and services throughout the territory of Moldova. The President of Moldova and Transnistrian leader have approached their positions so as to develop approaches for their perspective implementation.
The parties have mentioned the common interest for not admitting any impediments in security area (ZS), which could disturb the peace and stability in Moldova. Also, the speakers reaffirmed the importance of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester as a guarantee of the regional peace and security.
On the eve of the Bavaria Conference, scheduled for 04 – 05 November, Igor Dodon and Vadim Krasnoselski have reiterated their readiness to continue an open dialogue at different levels and stages, which will help to establish trust between the residents of both banks of the Dniester river. Thus, the parties have agreed that, in addition to official contacts, an important factor contributing to promotion of political regulation process is the activity of public institutions.
At the end of the meeting, Igor Dodon and Vadim Krasnoselski once again have specified that there is no alternative for confidence – building than dialogue, which opens up opportunities to discuss the complex issues in the negotiation process for Transnistrian settlement.
