Most seedlings planted in Leova district on National Day of creating green spaces

Chisinau, 30 October /MOLDPRES/- On the National Day of creating green spaces, marked on 26 October, about 32 thousand seedlings were planted. About 5,000 seedlings most have been planted in Leova district, the Moldsilva Agency has reported.
On the first day of the national campaign, which will last until the end of November, representatives of central and local public authorities, together with the forestry service, contributed to the creation of forest crops on an area of 48 hectares. Also, throughout the country there were carried out works to help the natural regeneration on an area of 12 ha and forest crops were completed on an area of 86 ha. The planting material was provided by the National Ecological Fund.
On the same day, hundreds of employees of the State Chancellery, Parliament, ministries, national agencies, planted seedlings of oak, acacia, pine, willow, poplar, on a total area of about 30 ha in the localities Puhoi, Căpriana, Văsieni, Zloți, Bursuc, Țânțăreni, Rezeni, Hârbovăț, Stejăreni, Călărași, Mitoc etc.
For the first time, on the National Day for creating green spaces this year works were carried out to restore river protection strips. Thus, the employees of the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment planted seedlings on the banks of the river Raut in the area of Orhei district.
By 2030, the area of forested land in our country is expected to increase up to 16%, from 11.2% as it is now.
The event was set up by the presidential decree in 1995 and is held on the last Saturday of October.
