Moldova to get support for modernizing tax administration

Chisinau, 31 October /MOLDPRES/- The Law for ratifying the Amendments to the Financing Agreement with the International Development Association and the Loan Agreement with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development for carrying out the Project for modernization of tax administration will be published in the Official Journal of Moldova on 1 November.

The amendments see a new approach to funding based on results and aim to increase project performance. Thus, more money from the project will be earmarked in 2020 to strengthen the operational capacity of the State Tax Service, to strengthen the employees' ability to provide services to taxpayers, including by developing a manual, implementing an electronic survey tool for taxpayers. The budget of the Project for the modernization of tax administration will remain unchanged following the ratification of the amendments.

The amendments were signed in Chisinau on August 2, 2019. The law for their ratification will enter into force on Friday, November 1, once published in the Official Journal.

The financing agreement and loan agreement entered into force on 16 December 2016 and are treaties supporting the government’s reform program by funding the project for modernisation of tax administration.
