Moldovan president visits Nicolae Testemitanu state medical university

Chisinau, 31 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon has visited the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF), at an invitation by the rector of this institution, Emil Ceban, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state took knowledge of the work of the institution, which educates medical and pharmaceutical staff in line with modern visions and international exigencies of training future specialists. Igor Dodon exchanged opinions with the members of the University’s Senate, administrative board and association of students and residents in medicine, in the context of the changes which have recently taken place in the institution’s management.
The Moldovan president also visited the University Centre of Simulation and Medical Training and discussed possibility to strengthen the clinical basis of educating the staff.
Igor Dodon welcomed the initiative to set up a University Hospital equipped with last generation medical technologies. The head of state gave assurances that he would contribute to the identification of investors willing to participate in the construction of this medical centre, which would meet all international standards.
At the same time, the Moldovan president expressed willingness to provide every needed support for marking the 75th anniversary of the University’s foundation.
In the end of the visit, the head of state thanked the entire administrative and academic staff for involvement and self-abnegation in the process of development of the higher medical education and of consolidating the health system of Moldova and wished the students and residents success and perseverance in the noble profession they are to practice.
It is worth mentioning that about 1,000 highly-qualified specialists work at the University at present. During 74 years since its foundation, USMF has educated more than 43,000 physicians and pharmacists and over 7,300 young people both of Moldova and from another 32 countries study at the University.
