Superior Council of Magistracy meeting postponed due to lack of quorum

Chisinau, 1 November /MOLDPRES/- The meeting announced by the revoked members of the Superior Council of Magistracy / CSM / for 1 November did not take place due to lack of quorum.
The agenda included 13 issues, including the appointment of an interim president to the Supreme Court of Justice, after on 23 September 2019, criminal prosecution on illicit enrichment was initiated on former head of CSJ Ion Druță.
Acting president of CSM Dorel Musteață said that today's meeting cannot take place because only seven out of nine members of CSM are present, a magistrate is on leave and the other did not attend.
On 27 September over 200 magistrates convened in the General Assembly of Judges and decided to revoke panel of CSM. Then, 164 out of 202 magistrates present at the meeting voted for dismissal of acting president of CSM Dorel Musteata. Victor Micu was dismissed by 118 votes, Anatolie Galben -162 votes, Luiza Gafton, Petru Moraru and Nina Cernat were dismissed by 167 votes, and alternate member Anatolie Pahapol - by 155 votes.
