Foreign exchange reserves exceeded historical record registered a year ago

Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/- The official reserve assets exceeded 3 billion 56 million dollars and thus reached a new historical record, according to the data of the National Bank of Moldova. Foreign exchange reserves increased by 42 million dollars in late October, as a result of the European Union's financial assistance of 40 million euros.
The previous record was registered on 9 November 2018, when the official reserve assets amounted to 3 billion 49 million dollars, but subsequently amid parliamentary elections they decreased by 273 million dollars on 7 March 2019. After which the recovery of the reserves began, following the appreciation of the exchange rates of the component currencies of the foreign exchange reserves in relation to the US dollar, the recording of the first loan installment in favor of the Ministry of Finance allocated by the European Commission, to some grants from the European Commission, on behalf of the EU, other operations.
Foreign exchange reserves were also supplemented after the fourth and fifth evaluation by the IMF Executive Board of the Program of the Republic of Moldova, which made it possible to access 46.1 million dollars.
