Moldovan government to considerably direct financing for developing roads' infrastructure

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today met Ambassador of Sweden to Moldova Anna Lyberg. The officials exchanged opinions on the boosting of the Moldovan-Swedish cooperation, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

Ion Chicu referred to the vision and directions set by the cabinet led by him. He reiterated the full commitment for the carrying out of the needed reforms and implementation of the Association Agreement with EU, noting that the justice reform was a priority.  

The prime minister also appreciated the multilateral technical and financial assistance provided by Sweden to Moldova, including through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. “We further need support which shows concrete results,” Ion Chicu said. He reiterated the government’s intention to considerably direct the financing for the development of roads’ infrastructure.  

A special subject of the discussions was focused on the cabinet’s position on the ecological situation. Touching upon this topic, the PM said that Moldova was fully backing the beneficial initiatives for the protection of the environment. More measures to this end will be included in the government’s action plan: “I assure you that this is a priority for us and we will implement all actions in this respect,” Chicu stressed. At the same time, the prime minister welcomed the fact that Sweden was a long-term partner of Moldova in the field of promotion of gender equality and women’s rights through political dialogue.

The sides expressed openness for the advancement of the dialogue at the parliamentary, governmental levels, as well as within the Eastern Partnership countries, where Sweden is one of the founding states. Anna Lyberg thanked the prime minister for the sincere dialogue and reiterated her state’s willingness to support the projects in Moldova, aimed at improving the citizens’ living.
