Moldova to extend cooperation programme with International Monetary Fund

Chisinau, 26 November /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today had a meeting with the head of the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) mission for Moldova, Ruben Atoyan, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The sides discussed the Moldova-IMF cooperation, in the context of the new cabinet’s swearing in office. Zinaida Greceanii reiterated the authorities’ openness for the continuation of the good relations with the country’s foreign partners, as well as the determination to observe the obligations assumed within the current agreements.
In the context, Zinaida Greceanii stressed that the continuation of the cooperation with IMF and the extension of the collaboration programme were in Moldova’s interest.
The head of the IMF mission welcomed this approach, noting that the observance of the commitments towards the Fund represented a good signal for all development partners of Moldova.
Ruben Atoyan said that, at present, IMF was focused on the successful completion of the current programme for Moldova and was willing to discuss a new bilateral programme.
In the end of the meeting, Zinaida Greceanii highlighted that Moldova was interested in investments for sustainable development, which are to be for the full benefit of Moldova’s citizens. She added that the authorities were undertaking measures to provide a stable regulation framework for foreign investors.
