Chisinau, 28 November /MOLDPRES/ - “Chisinau is open to continue the negotiations with Tiraspol on a wide spectrum of economic, social and humanitarian issues; yet, we will insist, on the immediately next period, to focus on ensuring the freedom of movement, observance of human rights in the region, final settlement of the problems of the Latin-script schools, as well as on facilitating the trade between the two banks through the unification of the customs and fiscal tariffs.” These are the Moldovan authorities’ priorities on the Transnistrian region.
Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Alexandru Flenchea made statements to this effect at a news briefing today, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
At the same time, the deputy prime minister stressed that this approach had been suggested at previous meetings, including with the mediators and observers in the process of talks. The Moldovan side’s openness for attracting a joint string of goals for the future in the text of the protocol of the round of 5+2 negotiations, due in Bratislava, was reconfirmed in a letter submitted to all participants in the 5+2 format of talks this week.
At the same time, Alexandru Flenchea said that the Moldovan authorities would come up with an offer of priorities after the OSCE Ministerial Council due on 5-6 December and decision-makers will subsequently undertake measures for their implementation. “Tiraspol can join, including by signing the 5+2 protocol from Bratislava in the compromise formula proposed by the OSCE chairmanship-in-office,” Flenchea added.
The 26th meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers from the OSCE member states will be held in Bratislava on 5-6 December. The participants in the event will pay special attention to the regional conflicts, among which there is the Transnistrian file too.
