Agricultural subsidies requested this year by producers exceeded 1 billion lei

Chisinau, 29 November /MOLDPRES/- This year, farmers in our country submitted 7480 applications for subsidy in agriculture, worth 1 billion 180 million lei. The Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA) announced that the number of files has reached a new record, and the amount of subsidies requested is 10.3% higher than last year.
The financial support was requested by 4476 agricultural producers, more than half of them being small agricultural producers.
Most applicants applied for grants for the development of post-harvest and processing infrastructure, the establishment of multi-annual plantations, the purchase of agricultural equipment and machinery, the development of the zootechnical sector and the procurement of livestock.
Most applications for subsidies were submitted by farmers from Cahul, Comrat and Edineț districts. At the same time, the highest requested amount was registered in Soroca and Hâncești, amounting to 57.7 million lei per district.
This year, the National Fund for agriculture and rural environment is 950 million lei, increasing by 5.6% compared to 2018. So far, AIPA has authorized for payment 896 million lei, including 342.4 million lei for farmers who applied for subsidies in 2018.
