Moldovan PM summons meeting focused on opportunities of airport infrastructure's development

Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu on 29 November summoned a meeting meant to identify opportunities of developing the airport infrastructure in Moldova. Attending the event were Economics and Infrastructure Minister Anatol Usatii, Defence Minister Victor Gaiciuc, as well as a group of experts in the sector, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM stressed that the existence of a single international airport in Moldova represented a monopoly element. Chicu also said that the development of new international airports would create conditions of competitiveness in the field, will give passengers possibility to choose and, as a result, will prompt the diminution of the tariffs for tickets and aviation services.
In the end of the meeting, the prime minister specified that the decision on developing the airport infrastructure in Moldova would be taken only after the carrying out of a feasibility study, due to unveil the economic reasons. At the same time, the PM asked to set up a working group led by Anatol Usatii, which will identify ways of implementing the concerned feasibility study.
