Chisinau, 30 November /MOLDPRES/ – In the context of the Day of the worker of agriculture and processing industry, which was marked on 24 November, the President of Moldova, Igor Dodon, has participated on Saturday, 30 November, in the ceremony dedicated to this holiday, which was held at the Palace of the Republic, the presidency’s press service has reported.
Hundreds of specialists from these fields and persons working in the agroindustrial sector took part in the event. The head of state addressed words of respect and appreciation for the daily activity that the farmers carry out regardless of the weather conditions, assuming the risk of material losses. Igor Dodon specified that, due to their continuous responsibility, effort and work, they are able to ensure, yearly, both the food security of Moldova and the overall activity of the national agroindustrial sector.
Also, President set out four basic objectives that would ensure a significant development of agriculture in Moldova:
1. The State must, through the instruments at its disposal, contribute to consolidation of agricultural land, including by providing subsidies and making the necessary changes in legislation. "There is the positive experience of other states in it that could be taken over and would bring benefits. And under no circumstances we should allow our land to become the property of foreign citizens,” mentioned Igor Dodon.
2. Implementation of modern technologies that offer the same production volumes, but on smaller surfaces, streamlines the production process and improves the quality of goods.
3. Export of high added value products. "So, as to export not only raw materials – grapes, sunflower seeds etc., but also high added value finished goods, such as kinds of juice, preserves, etc. In this regard, the state has to offer solutions to agricultural producers”, said the head of state.
4. Diversification of retail markets. "The state must ensure not only the identification of new retail markets and the preservation of traditional ones, but also make full use of the domestic market," said President.
Thus, the head of state has said that if these tasks are fulfilled, we shall be able to talk about another level of agricultural development.
"The land of Moldova is the greatest wealth we have and we are obliged to use it at fair value", said President.
