First case of flu confirmed in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 02 December /MOLDPRES/ – There has been confirmed the first flu case this season in Chisinau municipality. The virus has been detected in a 60 – year – old woman from sector Rascani, whose health condition is currently of average severity. The info has been presented, on Monday, 02 December, at the weekly meeting of the City Hall services, by the head of the General Directorate of social assistance and healthcare, Tatiana Bucearschi.

"The patient went to the family doctor on 26 November, and the next day she was admitted. On 29 November, it was found that the patient had the flu virus, after there were taken the necessary samples. Immediately, there were taken all the necessary measures and the woman was transferred to Hospital Toma Ciorba for infectious diseases, said Tatiana Bucearschi.

The batch of influenza vaccine has been distributed in all medical institutions in Moldova, including those in Chisinau. The patients wishing to get vaccinated should contact their family doctor. The flu season lasts in October – May. The statistical data provided by the Ministry of Healthcare (MS) show that, there were registered 2,151 cases of flu on 01 October 2018 – 31 March 2019.
