Christmas tree inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 02 December /MOLDPRES/ – In the square of the Great National Assembly Square (PMAN) in the centre of Chisinau municipality, it was given a start, on Sunday, 01 December, to the winter holidays with turning the lights on and inauguration of the Christmas tree.
The event was organised by the Government of Moldova (GM) and Chisinau City Hall (PC).
Present at event, the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Corneliu Popovici, mentioned that the winter holidays are magical and this period is for the family, being marked by traditions, kindness and dedication.
At his turn, general mayor of Chisinau, Ion Ceban, said that the winter holidays bring a lot of joy into the souls of people, and the Christmas Tree was lit on that day all over Moldova.
The performances continued with inauguration in the square of the Cathedral of the City of Children's world, and it took place an extraordinary concert Christmas villages in the square of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre Maria Biesu.
The children present in Christmas villages were the characters of show Winter Reverie. Also, during the event, there were made live connections with cities Briceni, Comrat, Soroca and village Cosnita, Dubasari district, where the top leadership of Moldova participated in inauguration of winter holidays.
The event special guests were: Presidential Orchestra, Model Orchestra of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), Puppet Theatre Guguta, Amelia Uzun, Cornelia Stefanet, Lia – Ciocarlia Choral, Nelly Ciobanu, BrioSonores, DoReDos, Smaranda and Costi etc.
The programme of activities dedicated to winter holidays lasts on 01 December 2019 – 10 January 2020 and it will include activities of leisure, socialisation, culturalisation and artistic education. Also, it will be ensured the promotion of indigenous products and tourism potential of Moldova by the economic agents.
For organisation of winter holidays Chisinau City Hall allocated MDL 03 mln.
