Civil society from south Moldova to be backed with 600,000 euros for local projects

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - Grants worth 600,000 euros in all will be provided to non-governmental organizations from the districts of the South Development Region, for the implementation of local projects in four sectors: water and sewerage supply, solid waste management, energy efficiency and responsibility for climate changes.
According to the CONTACT-Cahul Regional Centre of Assistance and Informing Non-Governmental Organizations (CRAION CONTACT-Cahul), in the last week of November, the NGOs from those eight districts of the southern region, public authorities, members of the Local Initiative Groups and Local Committees of Citizens participated in information sessions, where they learned about the guide of applicant and models of documents from the application file.
To participate in the grants contest, interested organizations should submit the file online till 20 January 2020. The NGOs can claim small grants up to 10,000 euros, medium grants worth 30,000 euros and big grants amounting to 50,000 euros.
„The project proposals can be submitted online on the webpage www.eu4civilsociety.md, where also the application forms in the Romanian and Russian languages can be downloaded. The money provided can be used also for infrastructure elements at a level of 50 per cent of the overall value of the grant, which will take over the infrastructure object after the project’s completion, sources from the project have told MOLDPRES.
The NGOs eligible for financing must carry out their work in one of the districts: Cahul, Cantemir, Causeni, Stefan Voda, Leova, Cimislia, Basarabeasca and Taraclia.
The local grants programme is launched based on the European Union’s Single Support Framework provided for Moldova (2017-2020) from the European Neighbourhood Instrument, through the EU-GIZ project, Citizens’ Empowerment in Moldova (2019-2021) and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). CRAION CONTACT-Cahul is the project’s partner in the South Development Region. Such grants are provided also to NGOs from the Centru and North development regions, as well as from the Autonomous Territorial Unit Gagauz-Yeri.
