Best pupils awarded at Olympic Gala 2019 in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ – The best pupils of 2019, who achieved remarkable results at the Olympics and regional and international contests, have been awarded, on Thursday, 19 December, at the Olympic Gala 2019, organised in Chisinau.

At the event, the international Olympians and their teachers have received money awards and diplomas of excellence from the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC).

In 2019, the Olympians from Moldova returned home from the Olympics and regional and international competitions with 49 medals and prizes, with 07 more medals than in 2018. Specifically, the pupils received 01 gold, 06 silver, 35 bronze and 07 honourable mentions. The performances were obtained in 17 Olympic and regional and international competitions, which were held in 14 states.

According to the Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Corneliu Popovici, due to perseverance of the Olympic pupils, Moldova has been heard and known throughout the world in 2019.

In 2019, Moldova has hosted two regional competitions: the Balkan Olympiad of Maths and International Olympiad of French.
