Chisinau, 19 December /MOLDPRES/ – The Ministry of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection (MSMPS) will publish, every three years, a national report on the quality of drinking water. This is set out in a draft law approved by Parliament in its final reading at its meeting, on Thursday, 19 December.
The document also states that the wells that provide drinking water in rural areas will be subject to checks once in 03 years, and if lab analysis indicate that the water does not meet the necessary conditions, it will be prohibited its use for consumption and irrigation.
The project approved by MPs establishes certain parameters that must meet the water from the consumer tap, bottled drinking water, as well as water used in the production process in food businesses. It must be clean, free of microorganisms, parasites or substances which, by its concentration, pose a potential danger to human healthcare.
The producers and distributors, as well as public authorities, will be responsible for water quality. Thus, the National Agency for Public Healthcare (ANSP) will monitor the quality of water at each stage of production, while the National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) will monitor the quality of drinking water used by food businesses and the marketed bottled water.
