Over 9,500 victims of political repression to get state benefits

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/- From 1 January next year, the rehabilitated victims of the political repression from 1917-1990 will receive 500 lei allowances, regardless of whether or not they are beneficiaries of pensions or state allowances. A draft law providing for the extension of the categories of beneficiaries of the monthly state benefits was adopted today by MPs.

According to the draft, monthly state allowances, worth 500 lei, will be offered to the rehabilitated victims of the political repression of 1917-1990, regardless of whether or not they are beneficiaries of pensions or state allowances. Currently, the legislation stipulates that the right to benefit from the respective allowance is only available to persons who have the right to a pension or allowance in the social insurance system of the Republic of Moldova.

According to statistics, in the social insurance system there are 9580 persons among victims of political repression from 1917-1990. The costs of project implementation are about 12 million lei annually and are reflected in the state budget for next year.
