Yellow Code of fog issued in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has announced a Yellow Code of fog all over Moldova till 21 December.  

According to meteorologists, the fog will maintain in most regions, with a visibility smaller than 200 metres in places.

In these conditions, the police warn drivers to move with low speed, avoid manoeuvres which can prove to be risky in low visibility and use the fog lights.  

Data by the Environment Agency shows that, in the Balti municipality on 18 and 19 December, a high level of air pollution with nitrogen dioxide was recorded. The current maximum concentrations of nitrogen dioxide exceeded the sanitary norms 1.1-1.9-fold. The average daily sanitary norm was exceeded 2.3-fold. An increased level of air pollution is seen in this settlement for the days to come, as a result of the unfriendly weather conditions for dispersion.    

The air temperatures are expected to vary between +11 and +13 Celsius degrees on the next days. At night, the air temperature is forecast to drop to 0 degrees. The next week-end will be marked by cloudy weather, rainy in places.
