Moldovan farmers to be able to be subsidized in advance

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The lawmakers today adopted, in the first reading, a draft on the amendment of more acts, meant to optimize the policies in the agriculture and rural development sector.

The legislative initiative belongs to an MP of the Party of Socialists (PSRM), Radu Mudreac, and regards the LEADER programme, which is to be implemented from public sources. The draft provides for the subsidization in advance with up to 5 per cent of famers’ subsidization fund.

The LEADER programme has been implemented in Moldova since 2015, with the support provided by development partners and in cooperation with the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry. Presently, there are 33 Local Action Groups (GAL) with about 1,000 members in Moldova. In 2018, the overall budget of GALs’ co-financing from external sources was seven million lei for about 160 micro-projects. This year, about 250 micro-projects benefited from an overall budget of co-financing from external sources worth about ten million lei.
