Moldovan parliament makes amendments to criminal procedure code

Chisinau, 20 December /MOLDPRES/ - The lawmakers today made amendments to more legislative acts, including the criminal procedure code and law on state guaranteed legal assistance.
Under the draft, the refusal by the criminal prosecution bodies to receive the complaint or denunciation on the committing or preparing to commit an offence will be able to be contested at a prosecutor or hierarchically superior prosecutor in a 15-day period after the date when the ordinance was brought to knowledge. The ordinance can be contested at the court investigator in a term of ten days after the date he/she was informed about this ordinance.
Also, the rights of the victims of the trafficking of human beings and trafficking of children will be added in the Article 58 of the Code, in the context of the rights of the victim of a particularly or exceptionally serious offence against a person, victim or torture, inhuman or degrading treatments, in order to eliminate the discrimination against these people.
Another amendment of the Code sees that, if the detaining of a person suspected of the committing of an offence is not registered in a term of up to 3 hours, he/she must be released.
