Chisinau, 23 December /MOLDPRES/- The Customs Service and the Border Police will work at maximum during the winter holidays and will implement several actions to ease up the traffic at the border and reduce the waiting time at the crossing points.

During holidays, the number of employees will be refilled at the border, and in carrying out the control, the management of customs posts will also be involved. The decisions were made because, according to the experience of the previous years, during the winter holidays, the number of crossings increases significantly.

Actions have also been proposed to the authorities in Romania and Ukraine, so that control is accelerated on both sides of the border.

On 22 December, Prime Minister Ion Chicu visited the border points of the state border Leușeni and Sculeni. According to Chicu, the number of citizens who entered the country on Sunday, until 11:05 pm, was about three times higher than on ordinary days, and to cope with the large flow of crossings, the Border Police and Customs have supplemented the workforce by about 80%. The Customs Service has announced that at present, at Leușeni customs checkpoint, eight lanes are used for the means of transport entering the country, compared with four that are used in normal working regime.

Thus, on 20-31 December 2018, there were 645,206 person crossings, of which, about 362,595 crossings were at the entry to the country.

People who plan to cross the border, can view in real time the number of transport units that are at the most transit crossing points by accessing the application "online traffic" on the official website of the Border Police.
