Moldovan president attends joint meeting of Armed Forces Command, Officers' Union

Chisinau, 27 December /MOLDPRES/- Today President Igor Dodon attended a joint meeting of the Armed Forces Command, the leadership of the Union of Officers of the Republic of Moldova, the Commission for Armed Forces Veterans, the law enforcement bodies and the participants in the military conflicts of the Civil Society Council under the President , the leadership of the National Committee Victoria, as well as the participants in the struggles to defend Moldova’ independence and the war in Afghanistan, the presidential press service has reported.
Victor Gaiciuc, Minister of Defense, head of the Union of Officers, said that the decision to hold such a meeting was taken in order to discuss the current problems facing the military in term and in reserve, the National Army and the patriotic organizations in the society.
Also, the sides expressed their support for the president’s stance on strengthening our statehood and democratic institutions, patriotic education of the youth, increasing the level of social protection of the socially vulnerable parts of the population, etc.
The officials also discussed the plans for 2020, where greater attention will be paid to the restoration of historical monuments. In this context, it was noted the need for a capital reconstruction of the Military Glory Memorial Eternity in the capital.
The head of state thanked the corps of officers and civic activists for the support given to the Presidential Institution during the difficult political events that occurred in the Republic of Moldova during 2019.
