Almost 100 women from Moldova to benefit from grants exceeding MDL 12 mln

Chisinau, 31 December /MOLDPRES/ – A number of 97 women from Moldova will benefit from a total grant of MDL 12.35 mln. The grants will be awarded under programme – Women in Business. The investment projects have been approved for funding by Programme supervisory Commission (CSP).
According to estimates of the Organisation for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises Sector (ODIMM), the financing of 97 companies managed by women will stimulate investments of around MDL 18 mln in national economy, create about 230 new jobs and maintain another 158 employees.
About 49 per cent of approved investment projects are from the processing industry, another 41 per cent of companies will operate in the field of services, and 10 per cent are in agriculture.
The General manager of ODIMM, Iulia Costin, has specified that the Programme is a launching pad for women which want to develop a business, but do not have sufficient financial resources and entrepreneurial skills. Also, supporting women in running a business helps reduce unemployment and their active involvement in community development, said Costin.
Up to date, there have been selected 379 investment projects for financing throughout Small Grants Component by means the Women's Business Programme. The maximum value of grant under this component is MDL 165,000 per beneficiary. The money can be used for purchase of investment items and for business development services.
