Moldovan PM chairs first cabinet meeting of 2020

Chisinau, 3 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today chaired the first cabinet meeting of 2020. In the beginning of the meeting, the PM congratulated the colleagues on the beginning of the New Year and showed confidence that the 2020 would a good year, as intense work will be carried out both centrally and locally, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The prime minister asked the leadership of the State Chancellery to publish the instrument of public monitoring of the actions carried out by the cabinet on the government’s webpage.
At the same time, the prime minister asked the ministers to revive the work of the ministries’ colleges and to hold meetings of the colleges the next weeks, with at least two subjects on the agenda: unveiling the activity report for 2019 and the action plan for 2020.
The PM informed those present at the meeting that the government submitted decisive acts for the justice reform to the Venice Commission for consideration. One of the documents describes the mechanism of evaluating the judges. On the next period, the government will receive assistance of Venice Commission’s experts, in order to quickly make progress in the justice reform process.
In continuation, Ion Chicu asked the leadership of the State Chancellery to place the instrument of monitoring the evolution of cases with high impact on the government’s webpage. The prime minister said: “In the last year, I have seen a lot of detainings of state officials in flagrant delict; yet, we do not quite know much about the finality of these cases. I doubt that at least ten percent of these cases have full finality. There are tens of artificially opened files, in order to swindle people’s businesses. We, the country’s citizens, want to know how these cases with high impact evolve.”
The PM demanded that the Public Property Agency (APP) considers, till 1 February, how the concessionaire of the Chisinau International Airport was fulfilling its commitments. “If the investment commitments are fulfilled with infringements of the contract, I demand that the Justice Ministry and APP quickly undertake the measures provided for in the contract,” Chicu stressed.
For 22 January, the prime minister instructed the holding of a cabinet meeting with all mayors of Moldova, in order to discuss a wide range of issues, such as the investments in infrastructure and payment of salaries to the local civil servants.
„I have informed the society that, in 2020, we would make massive investments in the construction of roads. Now, colleagues from the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry launch, through the M-Tender platform, the process of tendering for contracting works. I ask you to prove maximal transparency,” the prime minister noted.
The PM informed the ministers about the fact that all cabinet would go to parliament to unveil a report on the first 100 days of the Chicu Government. The prime minister also asked each institution to prepare needed information.
