Chisinau, 9 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Chisinau city hall informs the Moldovan capital’s residents that the Christmas trees used on the winter holidays’ period are collected in centralized way, in order to be recycled. The Christmas trees used can be deposited nearby platforms for the collection of domestic waste from the city and the specialized municipal services will carry them for recycling.
At the same time, the authorities urge economic agents, organizations and institutions from Chisinau to transport the conifers used separately, on the platform from the Ghidighici 3 Street.
The vegetal waste is to be chopped by employees of the municipal enterprise, Association of Green Areas Management, and subsequently used as mulch for the plantation of roses (in order to hinder the growing of weeds), as well as organic fertilizer for plants.
Contacted by MOLPRES, more specialists confirmed that there were more solutions to use natural fir trees after the New Year and Christmas holidays or these trees can be used for vine props, compost, kerbs for gardens, etc.
Fir tree’s branches also can protect the perennial crops. Thus, laid over these crops, the branches can form a small roof, which will defend plants from frost and the weight of snow. The dry fir tree branches can easily light a fire for grill. Also, the well dried stump after the days held in homes is cut in pieces and can be used to make fire in stove.
More owners of lakes, as well as specialists of fishing services say that fir trees can be put in water, in order to become shelter for fish for the rest of the winter.
“Most citizens opt for throwing fir trees to waste deposits; yet, some people do this with more responsibility and civic spirit than the others. The fir tree should be carried to authorized waste deposits, not thrown anywhere in public places. In many cities, the authorities found ways of turning fir trees to account, if they are not covered with trash. The idea of throwing the fir tree out of the window is not good too, if neighbours planted nursery transplants in the garden. The fir tree can easier got out of the house, if a plastic bag is used. The fir trees’ recycling is easier to be made, when the trees have no ornaments, plastic or strings between branches. It is good if someone can carry the fir tree directly to wood, where it can be used by rodents and birds as shelter or will nourish other trees when it decompose,” specialists of the Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry told MOLDPRES.
