Chisinau, 9 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Civil Aviation Authority (AAC) today issued a recommendation to the national air operators, thereby urging them to avoid the Iraqi and Iranian air space.
“Against the background of the enhanced tension in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, AAC recommends that the national air operators avoid the Iraqi and Iranian air space, as a result of the attacks with Iranian missiles against the forces led by the USA, assess the zones hit and enforce needed measures to avoid the danger against the civil aviation,” the document issued by the institution reads.
A recommendation of this kind was also issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which specified that it made an assessment of the situation in the region.
Also, to anticipate a crisis situation, the Civil Aviation Authority asked the national air operators to enhance the level of control, technical state and navigability of the airships, on which engines similar to the one of the Ukrainian aircraft, which has recently crashed in Iran, are set.
As many as 176 people died, after a Boeing 737-NG airship of the Ukraine International Airlines company on 8 January had crashed shortly after taking off on the Imam Khomeini airport from Tehran. The flying apparatus fell down nearby the airport and broke out in flames. The Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council informed that 11 citizens of Ukraine, of whom nine members of the crew, had died in this accident.
