Prosecutors demand 30 days of arrest for former head of Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office

Chisinau, 13 January /MOLDPRES/- Prosecutors have filed a request for ex-head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office / PA / Viorel Morari to be arrested for 30 days. The document will be examined today.

According to the information provided by the General Prosecutor's Office, on 11 January there was held the examination of the applications submitted by former head of PA Viorel Morari, to reject prosecutors Renata Anici, Vladislav Căruceru, Carolina Vidrașcu, who are part of the group pursuing criminal prosecution in this case. The prosecutor's office rejected the claims as unfounded.

Also, Morari was charged with abuse of office and forgery of public documents, and then he was heard in this capacity.

Morari was detained on 10 January, as suspected of abuse of office and forgery of public documents. He is suspected that in March 2017, he received from former PDM leader Vladimir Plahotniuc a complaint that he filed against the legal requirements, starting a criminal trial and subsequently prosecuting and falsifying several procedural documents in the criminal case. All these actions were taken out of personal interests, as well as in the interest of the former Democrat leader and several persons close to him, to protect them as suspects in the criminal case on bank fraud.
