Moldovan parliament speaker announces priorities for winter session

Chisinau, 15 January /MOLDPRES/ - A priority for the parliament on the next period will be the monitoring of the laws adopted in the end of the autumn-winter session, especially the social and economic ones. Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today made statements to this effect at a conference held along with the Moldovan president and the prime minister, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The speaker informed that, starting from 17 January, the lawmakers would resume their work, according to an instruction by the parliament speaker. The MPs are to consider more drafts registered by the government, lawmakers, as well as the new social initiatives submitted by the head of state. “It is quite good that we work in a team. The presidency, government and parliament are in a team, a good and consolidated team, which coordinates its work in the citizens’ interests,” Zinaida Greceanii said.
The parliament speaker specified that the MPs had much to work in commissions and the parliament’s plenary meetings would be resumed, in line with the constitutional provisions, in early next February.
Under the parliament’s regulation, the legislative body holds two ordinary sessions per year. The spring session starts in February and cannot exceed the end of July. The autumn session starts in September and cannot exceed the end of December.
