Moldovan cabinet considers issue of central Moldova district's water supply

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today summoned a cabinet meeting to consider the issue of the central Hancesti district’s supply with water, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The matter was set forth by the local authorities during a recent visit by the PM to this district. Attending the meeting were representatives of more competent ministries and agencies, the Hancesti district’s leadership and the mayors of the concerned villages.

The prime minister was informed about the issue of procrastination of the works within the project on water supply of 11 settlements from the Hancesti district, placed in the Prut river meadow, financed by the National Ecological Fund. The project was started in 2013 and has not been finished so far because of the incapacity of the economic agent contracted. The entrepreneur asked to increase the contract’s value up to 23 million lei. As much as 37 million lei has been turned to account so far.  

„The water supply is one of the government’s priorities, as well as the construction of roads, illumination, etc. There are many projects launched in the water supply sector, which have been badly managed, unfortunately. We must revitalize them. I want us to discuss the stage of the works, which are the problems and what the government needs to undertake for the project to be successfully completed,” the prime minister said.   

In the end of the meeting, the PM asked the specialty authorities to get involved, including the Technical Supervision Agency, so that to determine the carrying out of the works according to the contract, by ensuring the quality of the works and in as short periods as possible.
