Tourism sector legislation to be improved in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu today had a meeting with the participation of representatives of tourism associations from Moldova, leadership of the Investments Agency, Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM), Tourist Information and Promotion Centre, as well as other decision-makers in the field, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The participants in the meeting discussed the problems set forth by tourism agencies in the development of the industry. Among the subjects tackled, and which are in need of the cabinet’s involvement, the participants mentioned the necessity to develop the infrastructure of tourism objects, usefulness of the liberalized visa regime between Moldova and other states, as well as the boosting of actions to promote the cultural heritage.   

The PM noted that tourism was an important sector and its development would essentially contribute to the growth of the national economy. ‘’We should together find solutions and undertake needed measures to foster the activities in this sector. Moldova has potential and it must be turned to account,’’ the prime minister said.   

In the end, the PM asked to give final touches to the Moldova 2030 National Development Strategy on the tourism dimension and set a two-month term for carrying out the procedures of improving the legislation in the tourism field. Among the priorities, Ion Chicu highlighted the need to digitize the services and opportunities, so that they are more accessible for the end consumers, which will allow monitoring the developments in industry.
