Moldovan parliament speaker meets U.S. ambassador

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today had a meeting with Ambassador of the United States to Moldova, Dereck J. Hogan. The officials discussed the Moldovan parliament’s priorities and the agenda of the Moldovan-American relations for the next period.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, the interlocutors highlighted the good cooperation in the political, economic fields, in the process of implementing the democratic reforms. Zinaida Greceanii and Dereck J. Hogan spoke out for the continuous turning to account of the Moldova-USA cooperation potential.
Greceanii shortly presented the priorities for the parliament’s spring session, stressing the need to support the social and economic drafts, especially the ones on regional development.
The actions on the reformation of justice, with the wide participation of the civil society, professional environment and foreign experts, will be priority.
In the context, the speaker emphasized the positive opinion of the Venice Commission for the draft on amendment of the law on the Superior Council of Magistracy, as well as the Commission’s willingness to constructively cooperate with Moldova’s authorities. “This is an encouraging of our actions and we will be firm in the efforts of the reform’s full implementation,” the parliament speaker added.
