Events dedicated to Chinese New Year held in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - Pupils from three lyceums of Moldova’s capital and from one lyceum of Stefan Voda town, who study the Chinese language, today assembled at the Ion Creanga National Library for Children at an event dedicated to the Chinese New Year or Spring Festival. The action is organized in partnership with the Embassy of China in Chisinau.  

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of China to Moldova Zhang Yinghong said that Moldova and China had a traditional friendship and the cultural exchanges had always been the linking belt between the two peoples.  

„The Embassy of China will back and promote, in continuation, the Chinese-Moldovan cultural exchanges and will edify a communication bridge between the two peoples. The 2020 year is the Year of the Rat. In the Chinese culture, the rat is a symbol of happiness and intelligence. I wish all our friends an endless harvest of “mouses”! the Chinese official said.  

The special guest of the event, writer Nicolae Dabija informed those present about his participation in a poetry festival in Beijing. He pointed out that “the Chinese language must be studied, as China is a country of the future and has a very rich culture.”

For her part, the director of the Ion Creanga National Library for Children, Eugenia Bejan, said that the institution he led had been marking the Chinese New Year starting from 2006 and the Embassy of China had made important book donations to the library.

Attending the event were also the secretary I of the Embassy of China in Moldova, director of the Confucius Institute from the Free International University of Moldova Wang Yifeng, other officials.  

Songs in the Chinese language sounded, games and exhibitions of photos, books and workmanship objects were held at the event.
