Moldovan PM participates in joint meeting with local public authorities from Gagauz autonomy

Chisinau, 23 January /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Ion Chicu, along with the bashkan (governor) of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, has participated in a joint meeting with the local public authorities (APL) from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, the Vulcanesti, town. Attending the event were mayors, civil servants and councilors from local authorities, business people – about 170 people.
According to the government’s communication and protocol department, in the beginning of the meeting, Ion Chicu informed APL representatives about the cabinet’s priorities for the 2020 year, as well as the principal actions of the 2020-2023 Action Plan of the government.
In particular, PM Chicu referred to the massive investments for roads’ restoration and construction, streets’ illumination, as well as the attraction of investments meant for the industrialization of the district centres and creation of stable and well-paid jobs.
„The problem of young people’s exodus has hit the entire society. If we want to want to change the state of things, we must create jobs all over the country,” the prime minister said.
In his message, the PM informed about the public order and revival of the institute of district policeman, evolution of the salaries in the education and health sectors, as well as about the government’s problems meant to back young specialists.
The APL representatives put the prime minister questions on the bad state of roads and the intense goods transport to the Giurgiulesti port. They also showed interest in programmes meant to encourage the starting of businesses, which might stop the young people’s migration from Moldova, and many other issues. The question-and answer session lasted a 1.5 hours, during which the prime minister gave answers and explanations to the APL representatives and business people.
In the end of the meeting, Ion Chicu urged the local authorities’ representatives to focus on the development of settlements and identifying solutions to the current problems, proceeding from the present possibilities. “We have common problems which join us. We should put politics aside and do what people expect from us,” the prime minister said.
