Bulgarian president to visit Moldova

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/- President Igor Dodon met with President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev on 23 January at an International Leaders' Forum dedicated to Holocaust Victim Remembrance held in Israel, the presidential press service has reported.
Igor Dodon appreciated the Moldovan-Bulgarian relations, which continue to strengthen over the years, both at bilateral level and within the regional and international cooperation. In this context, the Moldovan president said that our countries have concluded about 50 bilateral agreements in most areas of common interest.
Also, Dodon pointed out the country’s interest in boosting the political dialogue and organizing exchange of high level visits.
The president thanked Bulgarian leadership for financial, humanitarian and technical assistance to Moldova, especially Taraclia. He noted that the Bulgarian community of Moldova, of about 52 thousand people, plays a significant role in the Moldovan-Bulgarian partnership.
At the same time, the sides were unanimous on the need to boost the bilateral economic relations, given the existence of an unused potential on the matter. Dodon said that the trade exchange volume in January-November 2019 amounted to about 107 million dollars.
In the same context, Dodon opted for drawing investments in Moldova’s economy and organising as soon as possible a meeting of the Moldovan-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, the previous meeting was held in March 2016 in Sofia.
