Roads' restoration works worth about six billion lei planned in Moldova in 2020

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - The programme on restoration and modernization of Moldova’s roads, due to be implemented this year, was unveiled by Economics and Infrastructure Minister Anatol Usatii today. According to the official, tenders are planned to carry out works worth almost six billion lei in all in 2020.
The minister said that, this year, decision-makers had started tenders for the works on restoration and modernization of the road R13 Balti-Floresti (40 km), estimated at 704 million lei; rehabilitation of the segment G50 Floresti- Nicolaevca-Sangerei, amounting to 150 million lei; restoration of the road R26 Mihailovca - Cimislia (65 million de lei); rehabilitation and modernization of the road Causeni-Stefan Voda (132 million lei); restoration and modernization of the road segment R31 Tudora-Palanca (100 million lei); rehabilitation of the segment R36 Tvardita-Ceadar-Lunga (100 million lei); modernization of M2 – the first belt road of the Chisinau municipality (410 million lei); rehabilitation and modernization of the connection G98 Lozova – M1 (90 million lei);. restoration and modernization of G109 Delacau – Bulboaca (120 million lei); rehabilitation of the segments Mihailovca - Valea Perjei and Cimislia-Iargara, with a cost of 145 million lei and 165 million lei, respectively, as well as the rehabilitation and modernization of the segment Baurci – Congaz (45 million lei).
„It is about roads with an overall length of almost 200 km and works with a cost of 2.2 billion lei, for which tenders for the right to carry out these works have been launched since early 2020,” the official noted.
At the same time, the minister said that, during the next months, tenders would be started also to carry out works of restoration and modernization of the road segment Criva – Balti, with a length of 133 km, for which about 2.5 billion lei will be spent; modernization of the road R21 Morozeni M5 (110 million lei); modernization of the segment 2 of the Chisinau city’s road belt (615 million lei); construction of the road belts of the Cimislia town (230 million lei) and Vulcanesti (170 million lei).
„These are necessary works, scheduled for the reconstruction of 170 km of roads, estimated at about 3.6 billion lei or we plan to organize the needed tenders till next spring,” Anatol Usatii said.
According to the minister, on the whole, as to the reconstruction and restoration of national roads, the team of the Economics and Infrastructure Ministry (MEI) has a well-established programme. “For this year, we have a big, challenging programme, but we are sure that we will succeed,” Usatii added.
The overall network of public roads of Moldova has a length of more than 10,000 km, of which over 6,000 km are managed by MEI, through the State Administration of Roads. More than 3,000 are local roads, managed by the local public authorities and 30,000 km are communal roads and streets.
