Moldovan parliament speaker has meeting with Audiovisual Council's leadership

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii today had a meeting with the head of the Audiovisual Council, Dragos Vicol. The officials discussed the enforcement of the legislation in the field, the problems and proposals in this context, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.   

The CA head referred to the need to approve the new members of the Council for the current vacant positions, as well as to the difficulties in the enforcement of the Audiovisual Media Service Code. Special attention was paid to the decisions and measures necessary to provide more support to the local radio and TV broadcasters. At the same time, the sides reviewed the actions taken by the authorities to ensure the transition from the analogical television to the digital one as of 1 March 2020. Dragos Vicol informed the parliament speaker that advertising spots were presently distributed, through which citizens are informed about the mechanism of switch to the digital television.       

For her part, the parliament speaker stressed that all proposals on amending the audiovisual regulations must be taken after wide, apolitical and inclusive consultations, so that the legislative norms are valid for many years ahead. “We have no right to approve laws which polarize and divides the society even more,” Zinaida Greceanii said.  

Before the parliament spring session, the speaker holds meetings with representatives of the institutions which report to parliament, in order to identify the problems and priorities for medium term.
