Moldovan parliament determined to back National Anticorruption Centre in efficiently fighting corruption

Chisinau, 24 January /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, in the context of the discussions with the representatives of the institutions which report to parliament, before the spring session, today met the director of the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), Ruslan Flocea, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.   

The speaker was informed about the tendencies of the 2019 year, with the CNA’s final report due to be presented to parliament’s plenum in the present session.   

According to the CNA director, the institution’s cooperation with the parliament is quite important, including under the aspect of ensuring a proper legal framework for preventing and combating corruption.  

In this respect, the sides stressed the importance to re-establish the right to legislative initiative the Centre has earlier benefited from. Also, it is necessary to improve the legal framework, in order to enhance the efficiency of the mechanism of testing the professional integrity.  

The speaker reiterated the parliament’s determination to support the CNA in efforts to efficiently fight the corruption. “To be able to get a considerable development in the social and economic sector and to offer better living conditions to citizens in Moldova, we must ensure real progress in combating corruption,” Zinaida Greceanii said.  

The parliament speaker will continue her meetings with representatives of the institutions which report to parliament. Held ahead of the spring session, they aim at identifying problems and priorities for medium term.
