Chisinau, 25 January /MOLDPRES/ - Thirty eight American dentists, who are admitted to the International Dental Program (IDP) at the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2020, gave an interview with the administrative team of the Stomatology Faculty this week.
According to the dean of the Stomatology Faculty, Oleg Solomon, the American dentists started their education several days ago and just on the first days, some professors of this faculty and the administrative staff, with whom they will interact during these two academic years, were introduced to the U.S. physicians. ‘’Nevertheless, an interview with each physician separately was needed, in order to know him/her personally – name, origin country, education, level of knowledge of the English language, as well as which are their expectations at the finishing of the programme,’’ Solomon said.
The dean noted that this ‘’is an exercise helping us to individually approach each student who chose the Stomatology Faculty, and for whom we want to create the best conditions for education and stay in Moldova and, respectively, to train qualified professionals in this field.’’ ‘’Thus, in the end of these studies, after they return to the country where they are to carry out their practical work, they bear the good name of our university,’’ Oleg Solomon also said.
Edward Allan is one of the American students due to train under the programme on clinical internship in stomatology. He was born in Los Angeles, California, and studied stomatology at the Medicine University from Kursk, Russia. He learned about the International Dental Program of the Nicolae Testemitanu University from a fellow. ‘’I applied to this programme, I passed an exam and now I am here. The first impressions are very good – pleasant and professional people. I think that I have made a good choice,’’ Edward Allan said.
This is the second group of American dentists within the programme of clinical internship in stomatology, with teaching in English. The programmes implies two full-time academic years – 7 classes daily, 17 weeks in one semester; afterwards, the physicians will get a certificate on the finishing of the post-graduate studies in stomatology through clinical internship. Subsequently, without taking other courses, the IDP graduates will have to pass an exam in California, the USA.
