Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with U.S. official

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - The boosting of the Moldovan-American dialogue on the justice reform, strengthening of the rule of law state and good governance have been tackled at a meeting between Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Aureliu Ciocoi and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State at the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Jorgan Andrews, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service has reported.     

The Moldovan diplomacy head welcomed the summoning in Chisinau of the second meeting of the working group on rule of law state and good governance within the Moldova – USA Strategic Dialogue. Ciocoi reiterated the wish to further consolidate the Moldovan-American cooperation in the sectors of rule of law, fundamental human rights and freedoms, justice reform, fighting corruption, as well as in the economic field.     

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the bilateral cooperation in the sectors evoked, insisting on the efforts undertaken by the Moldovan authorities in continuing the democratic reforms and fight against corruption.

At the same time, the minister expressed thanks for the U.S. assistance to strengthen the capacities of the competent institutions from Moldova. The officials agreed on the need to maintain an ascendant dynamic of the Moldova – USA Strategic Dialogue.
