About nine billion lei to be earmarked for roads' repair in Moldova in 2020

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today chaired a weekly meeting with Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials discussed the domestic and external work of the Moldovan leadership. In particular, the sides referred to their last Saturday meetings with each minister separately, within which the officials reviewed more issues on the agenda of each ministry.
Separately, the country’s leadership tackled with the Health Labour and Social Protection Ministry the issue of spread of the coronavirus, which has not been discovered in Moldova for the time being, with the situation under control.
At the same time, the Moldovan president informed about details on earlier launched initiatives. Thus, Igor Dodon said that 12 tenders were announced for the repair of 184 km of national roads and tenders for the restoration of 170 km of roads were under preparation. The head of state stressed that, in all, about five billion lei was planned to be earmarked from external sources and about 3.7 billion lei – from domestic sources, the Road Fund.
The Moldovan president said that another initiative launched regarded the illumination of streets in Moldova’s rural settlements. In this respect, Igor Dodon said that the country’s leadership planned to allocate about 130 million lei, which implies at least one kilometre of illuminated streets in each village. “The project on water supply and construction or reconstruction of the sewerage system provides for investments worth 300 million lei,” the head of state noted.
Igor Dodon said that, as for the social sector, decision-makers had ruled not to allow the liquidation or merger of district hospitals, just as the previous governments did it. At the same time, the head of state stressed the fact that the Moldovan leadership would ensure the setting of modern equipment at each district medical institution and tenders would be soon announced to this end.
Also, the Moldovan president said that the programme, A Doctor for You, would be re-launched. The programme sees involvement of mobile teams of physicians, who are to carry out the chest and breast radiography for free, as well as free of charge stomatological control for children in Moldova’s districts. At the same time, Igor Dodon stressed that free transport would be provided to the Oncological patients from districts and this year, Moldova will receive 168 new ambulances for all the country.
In another context, the head of state informed about the Moldovan leadership’s intention to continue the tough fight against the monopoly in the economy and the social sector. Igor Dodon said that, in particular, the monopoly had been cancelled on the carrying out of dialysis at medical institutions; yet, in separate cases, the monopoly continues working, and therefore, additional measures will be taken.
Also, the Moldovan president considers that it was necessary that the state’s authorities intervene in the work of the economic agents. In the context, he proposed the government to consider the issue on the sale of the MetalFeros Company.
