Chisinau-based museum to be repaired

Chisinau, 27 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today paid a visit to the Alexander Pushkin house museum from Chisinau, during which he familiarized with the state of the buildings of the museum complex, the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state found out, with regret, that the architecture monument, which had not been restored since 1987, was in a disastrous state and the roof of the main building of the museum – the Naumov house – is broken and urgently needs to be repaired.
The Moldovan president instructed that, jointly with the Moldovan Culture Ministry and the Chisinau city hall, about 550,000 lei should be identified and allocated to reconstruct the roof, as well as to carry out a technical expertise of the museum complex, so that the renovation works be started on the March-April period.
At the same time, Igor Dodon voiced confidence that, till 21 September, when the 200th anniversary of the Russian poet’s exiling to Chisinau will be marked, the restoration works would be finished.
In the context, the head of state said that the Alexander Pushkin house museum was not only an architecture and history monument of national significance, but also a symbol of the friendship relations Moldova has with its strategic partner, Russia.
