Moldova's Embassy in Beijing says no Moldovan citizens infected with new virus recorded in China

Chisinau, 28 January /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE), through Moldova’s Embassy in Beijing, given the outbreak of the new-type coronavirus epidemic in the People’s Republic of China, pays priority attention to the situation. MAEIE informed that no Moldovan citizens infected with the new virus had been recorded in China on 28 January.
According to MAEIE, at present, there are about 300 citizens of Moldova in China. As many as 134 Moldovans out of them are people who study in education institutions, 115 have residence in this country and the others temporarily stay in China.
Till today, two citizens of Moldova have contacted the country’s diplomatic mission. The Moldovans said they were blocked in the Wuhan city, Hubei province, where the Chinese authorities presently restricted the access of entrance/exit. In the context, the Moldovan embassy contacted the Chinese authorities, so that these citizens get the permissions to leave the city in quarantine.
The Embassy of Moldova in Beijing keeps in touch with the Moldovan citizens through the Chinese social network wechat, through the official page, email and phones of the diplomatic mission. The Moldovan citizens are regularly informed about the evolution of the measures undertaken to combat the coronavirus and the authorities’ recommendations as to ceasing its spread. Thus, to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Wuhan Airport was closed. Also, the exits from the country of groups of Chinese tourists were restricted.
Other two families, who live in other provinces, which are not hit by the coronavirus hotbed, expressed wish to leave China, in order to avoid possible contamination.
The latest information from 28 January shows that there are 4, 474 people infected with coronavirus 2019-nCoV and 106 died of this virus.
