Interior minister's view on increasing criminal phenomenon in Moldova

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/- Minister of Internal Affairs Pavel Voicu said at today’s hearings in the parliamentary commission for security and public order that an important reason for the increase of the criminal phenomenon in Moldova was due to the excessive politicization of the Interior Ministry leadership.

“We had three politically appointed ministers in the Interior Ministry in 2019. One of them did not hold any meeting with secretaries of state to consider increasing crime ”, he said.

Voicu said that 814 employees left the MAI institutions in 2019. “The excessive politicization of the activity, low wages and lack of attractive social package were among the causes of decreasing the number of employees of the Ministry of Interior. Without attractiveness of police profession, the crime situation in Moldova will continue to grow ”, Voicu said.

Voicu pointed out he will do the best to reduce existing problems.
