Moldovan head of state meets president of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe

Chisinau, 29 January /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon, in the beginning of his working visit to Strasbourg, today had a meeting with President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Hendrik Daems, the presidential press service has reported.
Igor Dodon appreciated Moldova’s partnership with CoE and PACE and the interest with which the developments in Moldova were constantly followed. Dodon noted that he deemed as useful and indispensable the expertise provided by the Council of Europe structures in efforts of advancement of the domestic reforms.
Also, the head of state stressed that the Moldovan leadership made efforts to fulfill the commitments taken to complete the procedure of Moldova’s monitoring by PACE and switch to another structured level – a goal contained also in the government’s Action Plan for 2020-2023. Igor Dodon voiced hope that the next PACE’s monitoring report would be positive in this respect.
The Moldovan president reiterated the firm determination to identify, within the 5+2 format of talks, the proper solution to the Transnistrian problem, based on observing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova.
Given that, in 2020, Moldova marks the 25th anniversary of the country’s accession to CoE, President Igor Dodon made Hendrik Daems an invitation to visit Moldova this year.
